Squirrel

A squirrel is a rider who tends to shake while riding, feels apprehensive or cannot ride in a straight line. It’s unsafe to ride in a group or race against a squirrel.

When you are drafting or riding close to others in endurance cycling and triathlon, maintain a straight line for efficiency and safety. Squirrels are a cause of crashes because they dart in unpredictable directions. This name isn’t an endearment; it’s an irritated shout within the group. New riders won’t be referred to as a squirrel when they learn to ride their bikes skillfully and ride straight without disrupting the momentum or slamming on the brakes. You must ride calmly and vigilant to build the group’s trust.
