3 Kilometer Rule

On sprint stages, under the three-kilometer rule riders delayed by a crash or mechanical within the final three kilometers of the race will be awarded the same time as the stage winner.

Intended to calm the race for the position in the finale, the rule doesn’t always have the desired effect.
