Active Release Technique

Active Release Techniques (ART) is a non-invasive treatment system precisely engineered to locate and quickly resolve soft-tissue disorders. Several athletes involved in endurance activities (such as Andy Funk!) utilize it for the resolution of overuse injuries. ART achieves its results through the removal of scar tissue as well as increased movement. A therapist applies pressure on the joint or muscle while mobilising it in varying directions. This assists with adhesions—knot areas within muscles, tendons, ligaments, or fascia—that occur from repeating the same movements repeatedly, such as in running or cycling. ART is suitable for issues such as IT band syndrome, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, or tight hip flexors. It is usually combined with stretching, foam rolling, and physical therapy. For athletes training for extended periods, frequent ART treatments can assist them in restoring function, enhancing their performance in sport, and preventing injuries from chronic training stress.
