Bottom Bracket

The bottom bracket is the component of the frame that houses the bearings and crank axle. It enables the cranks to rotate smoothly with the pedals. It is located where the down tube intersects with the seat tube.

A quality bottom bracket is required for maximum power and efficiency for long rides, such as in triathletes or long-distance bicycle rides. There is more than one type, with threaded being the most popular and press-fit being another. The bearings within can degenerate over time, which can lead to noises or vibrations on the ride. Regular maintenance of the bottom bracket reduces friction, ensuring your pedaling is smooth as silk and conserves your power for long rides.
