Bunch Sprint

A bunch sprint is where multiple riders from the front group accelerate in an attempt to win, typically towards the end of a flat stage.

Sprint stages of cycling are exciting components of the sport since they tend to be settled in just seconds. Sprinters rely on their lead-out trains, which are quick riders used in helping them position for the lead. It is all about timing as well as position in the race, as well as not getting clogged in traffic in the densely populated last section. For long races like the Tour de France, group sprints provide an opportunity for sprinters to win stages when they are not vying for the overall victory.
