Burnout is when an individual is extremely tired, both physically as well as mentally, as they have overworked with little rest. Burnout makes an individual tired, underperforming, irritable, as well as lacking motivation.
Endurance athletes can tire severely if they train excessively and intensively with no rest. Overtraining syndrome is an acute condition of tiredness that may take weeks or months for the body to recover from. Some of its symptoms are decreased performance, frequent illness, mood swings, and difficulty sleeping. To avoid it, athletes must have an efficient training schedule, rest on some days, sleep well, take care of their diet, and manage their stress.
