An “event” or “challenge” in sport endurance is an event, goal, or activity that will test an individual to their physical as well as mental capacity. It typically describes an individual test of endurance, such as completing a specific distance, reaching a specific elevation, or completing a set of activities within a set period of time.
Most athletes select an event, such as an Ironman, marathon, or multi-day bike tour, in order for them to structure their training. The term is also associated with Challenge Family, an large international organizer of triathlons.
