“Contre La Montre” is the French term referring to the time trial. Each rider is solo in this event, racing against the clock.
Time trials test how quick a cyclist can ride as well as how air flows around them. During time trials, riders must maintain an intense level of power on their own. Time trials take place in stage races such as the Tour de France as well as in triathlons, which are another type of time trial. The sport requires keen focus, intelligent pacing, and quality bike control. Cyclists tend to use special bikes, helmets, and snug clothing in order to minimize wind resistance.
