Cool Down

A cool down is a light exercise performed after a workout to gradually decrease the heartbeat and assist the body in recovering.

A cool down typically consists of 5–15 minutes of gentle jogging, cycling, or swimming. It removes waste products such as lactic acid from the body and minimizes post-exercise soreness. For endurance sportspeople, a cool down is a significant component of their racing and training. It assists in the improvement of blood flow and aids in muscle recovery. Stretching or mobility drills are typically performed at the conclusion of the cool down to assist with flexibility and relaxation.
