Cross Three

Cross three is a lacing method for spokes when constructing bicycle wheels. For cross three, the spoke crosses over two spokes then under another before reaching the rim. The pattern is used in balance for strength, stiffness, as well as weight, and is suitable for wheels that must take stress as well as function well. Cross three is used in some mountain as well as road bikes, particularly in those wheels that are exposed to medium through heavy pressure and impact. The pattern allows for distributing force evenly throughout the wheel.
