Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)

. This type of muscle soreness normally peaks about 48 hours after a particularly intense or long workout or race. DOMS is due to microscopic muscle damage, resulting in inflammation which causes soreness. This process takes usually two days to peak, during this time muscles are busy repairing themselves.
