Did Not Finish (DNF)

Did Not Finish (DNF) is terminology used after an individual fails to complete the race. It may be due to injury, technical issues, or other reasons that make the racer refrain from reaching the finish line. For runners, cyclists, or triathletes, DNF is frustrating though not rare in such activities. Some events provide athletes with an opportunity to do their event again in the future, though DNF typically encourages the athlete to learn from their error, provided the issue was something within their power.
