A triathlon dock for open-water swimming is an unmoving floating platform. It is employed in starting races, ending races, or providing food and drink. Athletes jump from the docks when starting races or touch them when they have completed races. During longer races, support teams provide food or drink from the dock. Docks are also an ideal place for spectators cheering for swimmers. Depending on where they are located, as well as what body of water they belong in, such as lakes or coastal bays, docks can be different in appearance, as well as in usage.
