Down Tube

The down tube is a critical component of a bicycle frame. It slopes from the head tube, below the handlebar, down to the bottom bracket shell, where the crankset is. It is within the main frame triangle and typically features the manufacturer’s logo. On older bikes, it may also feature shifters, mounting bosses for a water bottle, or contain internal cables. The stiffness of the down tube as well as its shape will influence the dynamics of how the bike handles as well as its performance.
