A drag suit is an oversized swimsuit you pull on top of your usual swimsuit during practice. There’s no propulsion behind you, which makes you slower, and as swimmers get slower, they become stronger. It is similar to how a baseball player uses heavier bats to practice with and then lighter bats in the actual game—practicing with the extra weight makes the actual game easier. Swimmers wear drag suits during warm-ups and practices to develop endurance, enhance strokes, and swim faster when wearing the competition suit once again.
