Drivetrain

The drivetrain consists of all the components that transfer energy from your legs to the rear wheel. These components are the chain, the crankset, the cassette (also known as the freewheel), and the derailleurs. The drivetrain is crucial to the bike because it assists you in shifting gears smoothly and makes efficient use of pedaling energy. A good drivetrain makes you go faster, conserve energy, and makes pedaling less effortful—something critical during races and long training rides.
