The dual suspension bike, or dualie, features springs in the front and rear. It rides bumps more smoothly than a hardtail and performs well on rough terrain, downhill courses, and challenging mountain bike trails. The suspension provides a more comfortable ride, absorbs shock to assist in gripping the ground, and assists in steering, particularly on steep and rocky inclines and trails with roots or drops. Dualies weigh more than hardtails but outperform them in demanding off-road competition and long rides.
