Electrolytes

Electrolytes are sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, and magnesium minerals. They have electrical charges and balance fluids, muscle contractions, and nerve impulses. If you exercise for hours, you lose electrolytes through sweat and may get cramps, become dizzy, or develop low sodium levels. Endurance athletes replenish these electrolytes with sports drinks, gels, or tablets to continue performing, become hydrated, and provide their body cells with necessary assistance during hours of training or competition.
