Another name for a feeding stick is feeding pole. It is equipped with a bottle or cup at the end. It is employed to provide food to swimmers on the open waters. It allows individuals to keep at safe distances and still provide food and beverages.
Through ultra-swim competitions and long-distance triathlon swims, feeding sticks are utilized to pass on food without breaking the rhythm of swimmers. A gel cup, a carbohydrate beverage, or minor snack is attached to the end of a pole by coaches or kayakers. The swimmers accept the food as they swim or during short pauses and resume swimming fluidly. In-water feeding is simplified, safety risks are minimized, and the athlete receives consistent fuel during challenging conditions through feeding sticks.
