Folic Acid

Folic acid is a B-vitamin critical to energy production and red blood cell production. It is also used as a coenzyme in the synthesis of DNA, to facilitate cell reproduction and repair.

Optimal folic acid status in endurance athletes ensures the rapid turnover of blood and muscles and enhances oxygenation and recovery. The nutrient is abundant in leafy green vegetables, legumes, and fortified cereals and guards against anemia and cardiovascular well-being. It is advantageous during intense training or enhanced bodily demand. Folic acid status optimizes cell function, endurance performance, and general performance.
