The heart rate monitor counts the number of beats per minute of the heart and transmits the data immediately to watches, bike computers, or mobile apps.
Previously, HRMs were equipped with chest straps to pick up heart signals. Today, sport watches on the wrist employ optical sensors and temple-, arm-, or leg-placed sensors when swimming or cycling. Athletes use HRM data to determine how hard to train, to establish heart rate zones, and to monitor recovery. It prevents one from overtraining, enhances aerobic endurance, and maintains an ongoing pace for prolonged activities by monitoring the heart rate during training.
