Jam

In bicycle racing, a jam is where the riders are extremely fast for a brief period. This is normally achieved to form a breakaway or to divide a group on flat or rolling terrain. A jam can alter the peloton’s pace, eliminate weak riders, or provide sprinters or attack riders with an opportunity to initiate an effort.
