The leaderboard indicates the ranking of athletes according to time, position, or the number of points accumulated. A leaderboard is employed during events, on mobile apps such as the Strava app, and during the live telecast of triathlons and cycling competitions.
The leaderboard allows fans, players, and coaches to view how they are performing and compare scores throughout the event. In stage races, the leaderboard may shift daily and displays rankings according to overall time, category victories, or distinctive jerseys (such as the KOM or green jersey). For training applications, virtual leaderboards provide competition that can motivate athletes when training individually.
