Mount Line

The mount line is a transition area just after the swim-to-bike transition (T1) where the athletes mount their bicycles. The riders walk through the transition area and are not allowed to mount until they reach the mount line.

This rule makes the public safer by preventing crowding and accidents in transition zones. Failure to obey the mount line can result in penalties. Training the mount line skill—spinning quickly in bike shoes, wearing the helmet properly, and timing the mount to mount the bike seat—can save you time and reduce stress on race day.
