MSPE stands for Maximal Steady Power Endurance. It is a cycling performance measurement that indicates the maximum power a rider can sustain for an extended period—typically 20 to 60 minutes—without becoming extremely fatigued.
It is similar to Functional Threshold Power (FTP) but is configurable for the length of an event. Athletes utilize MSPE to determine how hard to train, schedule the time trials or the hill climb, and to quantify gains in fitness. Testing is accomplished using sustained effort on trainers or roadways using power meters to provide precise data.
