Peaking

In a peaking process, the athlete performs at their peak. It entails tapering in a structured manner after intense training for a while so that the body adapts. Good peaking is decreasing fatigue without decreasing fitness. The volume of training decreases by 40-60% during the final one to three weeks prior to a competition but remains high to maintain speed. Being prepared in the mind—possessing confidence, focus, and motivation—is also extremely critical. Good peaking enables athletes to perform at their best in their major competition.
