Pick Ups

Pickups are short bursts of speed inserted into an easy run, typically lasting 10 to 30 seconds.

They make you run more effectively, run quicker, and engage your muscles without putting in complete intervals or maximum effort of fartlek. Performed on a plain or small hill, pick ups condition the body to easily shift speeds and simulate a sprinting finish. Incorporating pick ups into recovery or long runs makes the experience more enjoyable, enhances leg quickness, and acclimates the nervous system to higher speeds for subsequent workouts.
