Plyometrics

Plyometrics are explosive jumping exercises—like box jumps, squat jumps, or bounding—that train the stretch-shortening cycle of muscles.

Plyometrics enhance power, speed and the use of muscles through rapidly transitioning from landing to jumping. Endurance athletes perform plyometrics to increase running performance, end sprints strongly, and accelerate on bikes. Applying the correct techniques and building up intensity progressively is necessary to avoid getting hurt. When added to a solid training program, plyometrics strengthen you and enable you to recover to perform better in starts, climbs, and bursts of speed.
