Race Director (RD)

The Race Director oversees and inspects the planning and execution of an event.

The RD obtains permits, creates courses, and organizes timing, safety, and volunteers to ensure everything is rule-compliant and addresses athlete requirements. On race day, they manage logistics such as weather contingency plans, medical assistance, starting protocols, and award ceremonies, and they are the primary decision-maker in case something goes wrong. A good RD balances what the athletes desire, what the sponsors require, and how the event impacts the community, so their leadership is crucial for a smooth, successful, and safe endurance event.
