RICE

RICE or Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, is a first-aid technique for healing sudden joint and muscle injuries and soreness. Rest removes stress from the injured area. Ice reduces pain and swelling. Compression employs bandages or sleeves to limit swelling. Elevation utilizes gravity to assist in moving fluids and reducing swelling further. Endurance athletes apply RICE immediately after minor aches or overuse injuries to accelerate healing and prevent chronic difficulties.
