Seek and Spot

Seek and Spot is a method of obtaining food during swimming in open water. In this technique, the swimmer searches for the food station, spots their coach, and promptly receives the food or beverage. Swimmers raise their head while stroking (“seek”) to spot the pontoon and coach, then extend their arm to take a bottle or gel (“spot”) without losing much speed. Training when to sight and how to reach correctly enables them to refuel effectively during the race, minimizing lost time and maintaining stroke rhythm. Getting good at Seek and Spot enhances nutrition regularity during extended swims, sustaining performance.
