Slipstream

A slipstream occurs behind a moving body, a swimmer or a bicycle rider for example, in which there is reduced resistance to the air. It’s the region utilized by athletes to conserve energy.
Cycling: Riders ride near a leader to conserve up to 30% of wind resistance and maintain the same pace. Triathlon or open water swimming: Swimming behind another person allows you to expend less energy and maintain your pace. Taking advantage of the slipstream is a key tactic in endurance racing, particularly in team or group events.
