Sprint Train

A sprint train consists of riders that function as a shield to aid their sprinter to the front of the race. They alternate fast sprints for brief periods to shield the sprinter. This is a well-placed and timed tactic. It assists the sprinter when there are approximately 150–200 meters to go and readies him for a burst of speed. Sprint teams generally appear on flat segments of road races such as the Tour de France and play a role in creating good sprint finishes.
