Straight Block

A straight block refers to a rear cassette with gears increasing one tooth at a time, often used in time trials or flat courses.
This configuration allows riders to maintain an ideal cadence with minimal jumps between gears, improving efficiency. It’s less suited to climbing but is preferred when terrain is consistent and power output needs to be smooth. Time trialists and strong flatland riders benefit most from straight block setups.
