T2 is the second transition in a triathlon when athletes transition from bike to running. Similar to T1, this section requires haste and precision so that they do not lose valuable minutes.
At T2, the participant exits the bike, stores the bike, switches to running shoes, and possibly removes a helmet prior to beginning the final segment of the competition. Transitioning to running can be tough on the body, and most athletes train in order to acclimatize to this transition. A good T2 saves seconds and enhances running, particularly in sprint and Olympic distances when seconds count.
