The transition area is a unique area in a triathlon wherein the athletes transition from one sport to the next—swimming to cycling (T1) and cycling to running (T2). Each participant has a designated spot to secure their bike and stash their essentials such as shoes, helmet, or food. Quickness in the transition area matters as the transition time goes towards the overall race duration. The arrangement may vary according to the event size and location but transitions have even earned the name of the “fourth discipline” of the sport as deliberation and quick execution are required to perform well.
