U23 Rider

An U23 rider refers to a rider younger than 23 years of age. They first begin racing in the lower divisions and then advance to the larger ones. They do so to discover new stars for the future.

In cycling, U23 events occur concurrently with elite events and may be included in the same race but with separate rankings. U23 categories are also found in triathlon and running, providing young athletes with an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. Performances in U23 events routinely result in professional contracts for athletes, particularly in Europe, where U23 riders may also serve as “stagiaires” for professional teams.
