In adventure racing, an unranked team refers to a team that does not appear on the rankings. This occurs when a member of the team drops or fails to complete a significant checkpoint.
Unranked teams are still allowed to participate informally for the sake of experience or completing the competition but will not receive honors or rankings. This rule allows the competition to proceed and also respects the effort involved in completing a long race.
