Welcome to the Ho’Omau Endurance Altitude Haus Training Camp in beautiful Lake Arrowhead, California! This 10-day coed event is not just designed to foster community, enhance endurance and improve your red blood cell count, it is also designed for personal growth in a shared living environment. To ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all participants, please adhere to the following Camp Rules. These rules apply to everyone – athletes, staff, and guests – and violations may result in warnings, removal from the training camp, or forfeiture of fees without refund. By participating in this camp, you agree to these guidelines.
We’ve organized the rules into categories for clarity. If you have questions, speak to your designated camp leader as soon as possible.
1. Respect and Conduct
- Treat all participants, staff, and neighbors with respect, kindness, and professionalism. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any form of verbal, physical, or emotional abuse based on gender, race, ethnicity, age, ability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated and may result in immediate expulsion.
- Maintain a positive, supportive atmosphere aligned with endurance sports values – encourage each other during training and downtime.
- Pre-existing relationships are fine but must be disclosed to camp leaders in advance. No new romantic or intimate relationships between participants to avoid distractions and ensure focus on training goals.
- Consent is mandatory in all interactions. Always ask for and respect personal boundaries, especially in shared spaces.
- Report any concerns or incidents confidentially to your designated camp leader.
- Be mindful of cultural differences and sensitivities; avoid assumptions about others’ backgrounds or preferences.
2. Privacy and Personal Space (Coed Considerations)
- Bedrooms are assigned at original booking and will be distributed as such. Respect privacy and knock before entering any bedroom.
- All bedrooms have their on designated en-suite bathrooms. Use of any other bathrooms in the house, except the shared bathroom, is not allowed.
- Since most participants will be athletes, changing of clothes will likely occur multiple times per day and should occur in private areas only.
- Personal belongings: Do not touch, borrow, or move others’ items without permission. Keep and secure your valuables in your own room.
- Photography and social media: Obtain consent from all visible individuals before taking or sharing photos or videos of them.
- Do not post camp content without tagging @hoomauendurance and adhering to our media policy (no geotagging for camp privacy).
- Quiet reflection time: Respect others’ need for personal downtime, especially after intense training sessions.
3. Cleanliness and Maintenance
- Keep all areas tidy: Clean up after yourself immediately in kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, and outdoor spaces.
- Bedrooms: Keep floors clear and limit clutter. No food or drinks in bedrooms to prevent pests.
- Kitchen: Wash and put away dishes after use. Label personal food items you may have brought in the fridge.
- Bathrooms: Wipe down surfaces after use and report any plumbing issues immediately.
- Waste management: No littering outdoors – pack out what you pack in during hikes or runs.
- Property care: Treat the lake house as your own. No rearranging furniture without permission.
- Report any damage immediately (accidents happen, but honesty is key).
4. Noise and Quiet Hours
- Quiet hours: 10pm to 6am daily to allow for recovery sleep essential for endurance training.
- During quiet hours, keep voices low, use headphones for music or personal devices.
5. Safety and Health
- Emergency protocols: Familiarize yourself with the evacuation plan, fire extinguisher locations, and first-aid kits on Day 1.
- Health monitoring: In case of injury or illness, notify your camp leader immediately – do not self-treat serious issues.
- Training safety: Follow all coaching instructions during sessions. Stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and wear appropriate gear.
- Fire safety: No open flames indoors (candles, incense). Outdoor fires only in designated pits with and adherence to local fire bans.
- Wildlife awareness: Store food securely to avoid attracting bears or other animals. No feeding wildlife.
- Vehicle use: If driving, park in your designated spot(s).
- Medical disclosures: Share any allergies, medications, or conditions with staff confidentially upon arrival for emergency preparedness.
6. Use of Facilities and Amenities
- Kitchen: Clean as you go. No hogging appliances.
- Living areas: No eating on furniture; use tables or counters.
- Outdoor spaces: Use decks, yards, or trails responsibly.
- Equipment storage: Store sports gear (bikes, shoes, etc) in designated areas.
7. Alcohol, Substances, and Nutrition
- No recreational drugs during the camp to maintain peak performance and safety. Violations result in immediate removal.
- Tobacco or vaping: Prohibited indoors at any time. Use designated outdoor areas and dispose of waste properly.
- Limit alcohol use to after 5pm and at reasonable levels as altitude can speed up intoxication.
8. Check-In/Check-Out and Logistics
- Arrival: Check-in starts at 10am. Please arrive at the property no later than 6pm.
- Departure: Vacate by 10am on departure day. Leave rooms as found. Strip beds and empty trash.
- Lost and found: Report any found items to your designated camp leader.
These rules are designed to create a harmonious, productive training and living environment during the camp.
