Training

What to Expect

Our 2026 Altitude Haus training camp is open for up to 14 cyclists, runners and triathletes. As a multi-disciplinary altitude camp, swimming, running and cycling sessions are organized daily – however pure swimmers, runners or cyclists can opt to participate in only their sport if desired. Cross training, recovery, mindfulness and endurance-specific Q&A sessions with Andy Funk are also built into every single daily schedule. Depending on swim speed, running pace and w/kg of each athlete, sometimes one or two extra groups are setup to avoid splitting the pack. Swimming occurs exclusively in Lake Arrowhead with SUP support, while cycling routes reach as far as Big Bear Lake and San Bernardino.

Minimum Athlete Requirements

In order to create an environment where athletes are split into the fewest groups possible during camp, we will be setting minimum running pace and cycling W/Kg requirement. These will be posted here soon.

The Altitude Haus cycling training routes below represent some of the most popular routes in the region. However, as there will be a variety of skill levels present at the camp, final route selection will not occur until a few weeks prior to the camp. Furthermore, separate rider groups are created as needed based on w/kg or perceived rider energy on any given day of the camp.

Please login to your Ho’Omau account to see the remaining routes. If you do not have an account, click the Sign Up button at the very top – it takes less than 1 minute.

Open water swimming in Lake Arrowhead is fun yet challenging. The altitude kicks in pretty quickly. Lake Arrowhead also as decent boat traffic in late summer and swimmers must remain within buoy perimeter at all times. For safety of the group, all swims have SUP support and swimming on your own outside of our organized swims occurs at your own risk.

There is an abundance of outdoor activities in the region around the camp. However, we will focus most of our cross training efforts on yoga, stretching, hiking and SUP. Below are the most popular hiking and SUP routes around the perimeter of the lake.

Andy has been passionate about health, fitness, nutrition and endurance sports as an athlete, investor and entrepreneur for over 20 years. His passion is not just exemplified by the 119 races where he toed the line, the multiple Ironman World Championship finishes, finishing the Vegas In 24 challenge, or founding Ho’Omau Endurance Co., but also by the many people he introduced to active living, clean eating and endurance sports over the years – almost all of whom are still living active and healthy lifestyles today.

As a Los Angeleno, Andy is very excited to lead this close-to-home Altitude Haus training camp. He has been involved in the planning, scheduling and route mapping for the camp and when it comes to anything endurance sports, he’ll likely have a good answer for you 9 ¾ out of 10 times.

To create an open environment where questions can be asked, topics can be discussed and issues can be debated, the training camp will have a daily “campfire” Q&A with Andy lasting about 20 minutes where “any talk goes”. Andy will also participate in most of the swims, runs, rides and cross training during the camp.
