Welcome to the Ho’Omau Endurance Valley of Fire ‘RV’ Training Camp in beautiful Valley of Fire and Lake Mead, Nevada! This 6-day coed event is not just designed to foster community, enhance endurance and improve your ability to race in the heat, it is also designed for personal growth in a location where community and sharing experiences is part of the journey. To ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable experience for all participants, please adhere to the following Camp Rules. These rules apply to everyone – athletes, staff, and guests – and violations may result in warnings, removal from the training camp, or forfeiture of fees without refund. By participating in this camp, you agree to these guidelines.
We’ve organized the rules into categories for clarity. If you have questions, speak to your designated camp leader as soon as possible.
1. Respect and Conduct
- Treat all participants, staff, and RV site neighbors with respect, kindness, and professionalism. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any form of verbal, physical, or emotional abuse based on gender, race, ethnicity, age, ability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated and may result in immediate expulsion.
- Maintain a positive, supportive atmosphere aligned with endurance sports values – encourage each other during training and downtime.
- Since this is a RV training camp where privacy is not a concern, pre-existing relationships are welcome and of no concern. We do appreciate advance disclosure of relationships between participants to avoid distractions and ensure focus on training goals, but this is optional.
- Consent is mandatory in all interactions. Always ask for and respect personal boundaries, especially in shared spaces.
- Report any concerns or incidents confidentially to your designated camp leader.
- Be mindful of cultural differences and sensitivities; avoid assumptions about others’ backgrounds or preferences.
2. Privacy and Personal Space
- Since most participants will be athletes, changing of clothes will likely occur multiple times per day and should occur in your RV only.
- Personal belongings: Do not enter other athlete’s RV’s or touch, borrow, or move others’ items from, or within their RV without permission. Keep and secure your valuables in your own RV.
- Photography and social media: Obtain consent from all visible individuals before taking or sharing photos or videos of them.
- Do not post camp content without tagging @hoomauendurance and adhering to our media policy (no geotagging for camp privacy).
- Quiet reflection time: Respect others’ need for personal downtime, especially after intense training sessions.
3. Cleanliness and Maintenance
- Keep all common ground areas tidy: Clean up after yourself.
- RV’s: Everyone is responsible for maintaining their own RV inside and out.
- Waste management: No littering outdoors – pack out what you pack in during swims, rides, runs or hikes.
- Property care: Our camp is subject to the established RV campground rules. Please review and follow them.
4. Noise and Quiet Hours
- Quiet hours: 10pm to 6am daily to allow for recovery sleep essential for endurance training.
- During quiet hours, keep voices low, close RV doors, use headphones for music or personal devices.
5. Safety and Health
- Emergency protocols: Familiarize yourself with the evacuation plan of the RV campground, fire extinguisher locations, and first-aid kits on Day 1.
- Health monitoring: In case of injury or illness, notify your camp leader immediately – do not self-treat serious issues.
- Training safety: Follow all coaching instructions during sessions. Stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and wear appropriate gear.
- Fire safety: Outdoor fires only in designated pits with and adherence to local fire bans.
- Wildlife awareness: Store food securely to avoid attracting animals. No feeding wildlife.
- RV Parking: Park your RV(s) in your designated spot(s). Do not occupy another athlete’s spot without prior permission.
- Medical disclosures: Share any allergies, medications, or conditions with staff confidentially upon arrival for emergency preparedness.
6. Alcohol, Substances, and Nutrition
- No recreational drugs during the camp to maintain peak performance and safety. Violations result in immediate removal.
- Tobacco or vaping: Prohibited indoors at any time. Use designated outdoor areas and dispose of waste properly.
- Limit alcohol use to after 5pm and at reasonable levels as altitude can speed up intoxication.
7. Check-In/Check-Out and Logistics
- Arrival: Check-in starts at 10am. Please arrive at the RV campground no later than 6pm.
- Departure: Vacate by 10am on departure day. Leave your RV site as found.
- Lost and found: Report any found items to your designated camp leader.
These rules are designed to create a harmonious, productive training and living environment during the camp. Remember, we’re all here to build fitness and enhance our endurance sport community – let’s make it memorable for the right reasons! If updates are needed, they’ll be communicated via group meetings by your designated camp leader. Thank you for your cooperation.
